Chiropractor

The chiropractic field centers on the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, and the various disorders related to these systems. A chiropractor is a doctor that practice in the chiropractic field. There are a slew of symptoms and disorders that chiropractors handle, including back pain, head and neck painjoint pains, and other disorders and afflictions. The main belief among chiropractic practice is the notion that the body’s structure and spine are key to healing functional ailments.

The chiropractic practice is widely distinguished as one of the safest and drug-free therapies involved in the medical field today.  According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), more than 31 million people suffer from lower back pain. Chiropractors successfully treat lower back pain. They use a wide variety of methods to help ease the pain and/or cure their patients.

The chief method used by chiropractors is physical therapy. Physical therapy is a hands-on, physical approach to curing patients of their ills. Sometimes physical therapy results in soreness and aching, but this is simply an end to justify and alleviate an ailment or disorder. Massage therapy is also used to help alleviate stress-related ailments as well as to relieve pressure on parts of the back, neck, and head.  Low back pain is another ailment often associated with chiropractic complaints and is easily treatable through physical and massage therapy.

Spinal manipulation is among the many ways chiropractors are skilled to heal ailments. This alternative method is primarily practiced by chiropractors to help restore joint mobility in places where a patient is experiencing lack of mobility.  Spinal manipulation is a chiropractic spinal adjustment where a thrust is applied to certain vertebrae for correcting a malposition (an afflicted joint). This method of healing dates back to the days of Hippocrates and the ancient Egyptians as well. Physical therapists and osteopaths also use spinal manipulation to heal their patients.

Soft tissue therapy (STT) is another method of healing practiced by chiropractic professionals. This healing method seeks to achieve alleviation of postural and functional problems a patient may have. Treatment through soft tissue therapy involves different techniques including manual techniques focusing on providing relief to certain trigger points in the body, stretching techniques to help with muscular tautness, and tapping techniques to aid in alleviating swollen soft tissue like muscles and tendons.
